Embarking on a journey in our hometown, we immersed ourselves in a remarkable 1-day trip with a community-based tourism group in the captivating realm of Phuket. Get ready to uncover the secrets of this extraordinary destination as we invite you to embark on a journey of discovery.
As our remarkable journey concluded, we left with a profound sense of satisfaction and a newfound appreciation for Phuket’s rich tapestry of history. The abundance of community tourism groups in the region remained waiting to be discovered. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Phuket Rajabhat University for their role in opening our eyes to the untapped potential of tourism in Phuket. We eagerly anticipate future adventures, ready to unearth more of the hidden treasures that await us.
We gathered at Ban Phraya Wichit Songkhram, an open-air museum drenched in history. As we wandered through this national historic site, ancient artifacts and remnants of Phuket’s past came alive. Cannon holes, the Nang Lakorn pond, and traces of tin smelting whispered tales of a bygone era, offering a glimpse into the rich heritage of Thalang and Phuket.
Nearby, the Ta-ruar Shrine stood as a sanctuary for those seeking blessings of good health. Here, the colossal statue of Guan Yu, embodying honesty and integrity, captivated us with its grandeur. This awe-inspiring place set the stage for a remarkable day of exploration.
Our journey led us to Ban Kwai Uncle Nui, a sanctuary where a rare and endearing buffalo resides. Witnessing the playful antics of this chubby buffalo was a joyous encounter, and we had the opportunity to feed and even sculpt a beautiful buffalo souvenir. It was a magical connection with nature’s gentle giant, allowing us to immerse ourselves in the rural charm of the region.
At our final stop, Baan Li Phon Tai, we were treated to an enthralling shadow play, a traditional art form unique to Phuket. The graceful puppets brought stories to life, transporting us to a world of magic and wonder. The warm hospitality of the community was evident as we indulged in traditional desserts like Ko Sui and relished a delectable lunch served in a Hua Chan (pinto), featuring local delicacies such as Cave fish, Nam Chuop Yam, and Phak Miang in coconut milk soup. Quenching our thirst with Ma Mao soda drink was the perfect refresher.
